Formerly a police officer having served both in Argyll County and latterly in Strathclyde Police, I retired in 1990 on the completion of 30 years service. Having an avid interest in all species of timber, and in particular those that are rare and exotic, I set about researching those used in the manufacture of police batons of the last century. I have identified the various species used and secured a continuing supply of the same woods, enabling me to replicate the batons in detail, the majority of which were manufactured in ebony, lignum-vitae,. pau-rosa, bubinga and Indian rosewoods, to name but a few. The items referred to in this section are turned personally by me and from the timbers identified as those manufactured in the original batons of the last century.
The photograph on the right depicts a box of batons, the origin and inspiration for this section on Police Memorabilia.
